Here's the truth of this... I'm not gonna bother reading "conspiracy theories" regardless of the fact it may be true. I'm not trying to further my doubt about one of the few loves I do have. Nope. I'll just blindly believe it's not rigged and continue to blame shitty refs and loopholes.

Like most conspiracy theories you have to accept that literally thousands of people have some knowledge of the conspiracy and that hundreds have been in positions to directly affect these games and their outcomes over 50 plus years and that nobody has ever talked. Ever.

    I doubt it.

So the refs are in the pocket of the league and are fixing games in real time on the field?

    I don't see it.

I'm not saying that games have never been fixed but to think that the NFL operates like the WWE complete with predetermined winners and champions is a bit much.

Could a ref or player be in the back pocket of a Vegas big shot?

    Absolutely

    Everything else is bs.

But.... since we are on the subject I'll bite.

Early 90's Bud Adams has the Oiler franchise in Houston. They are struggling.

Adams and the league wants a new stadium in Houston. Houston shuts them down.

Adams and the league threaten to relocate if they don't get their way.

Houston says no. Adams and the league relocate to Tennessee in 1997.

Oilers play a season in Memphis.

Next season in Nashville at Vandy.

Attendance and fan interest is abysmal at both venues.

The Tennessee Oilers are boring, average and Nashville nor Memphis gives a rats ass about them at this point but the stadium is under construction on the tax payers dime.

What better way to sell a franchise to a new market and immediately lock in a significant portion of your PSL buyers for the next decade than having the Tennessee Titans magically going from nothing their first two years in the state to nearly Super Bowl champions their first year in the new stadium?

On their way to the Super Bowl they beat Buffalo in miraculous fashion. Was the fix in?

They mow over the NFL's emerging golden boy in Indianapolis.

Then they defeat the best franchise in the AFC that year for a third time in their own house.

Jaguars lost three games that season.

    Rather convenient I guess.

The Titans make it to the Super Bowl. They begin to look like they might win late in the 4th.

The Greatest Show on Turf and Kurt Warner have been the league's go to feel good story all season. The grocery clerk/Arena QB who got a one in a million chance and led his team to the Super Bowl.

The league wasn't about to let the Titans ruin that story. The Titans were only supposed to make it to the Super Bowl, not win it.

Enter Isaac Bruce. Miraculous 73 yard bomb on the Titans. Even today the play is just weird. Puts the Rams up for good.

The NFL gets its amazing game. They complete their Kurt Warner/ Greatest Show on Turf storybook ending. The Titans are immediately the most popular thing in Nashville solidifying the relocated franchises fanbase and ticket sales in middle Tennessee.

It does all seem rather convenient.

TL:DR I say the conspiracy is mostly BS but perhaps the story of the Tennessee Titans is some of the best evidence for the NFL being rigged that there is.

There's no more "evidence" in that article than any fan will give you any time their team loses.bad calls happen. "Miraculous" plays happen. The underdog wins sometimes. Sometimes the outcome of the game is altered by debatable means...that does not mean the sport as a whole is rigged. Or even the particular game for that matter. Lighten up...atch football for entertainment or don't. People take this way too seriously and frankly, its ****ing annoying.

Long read but very interesting. I'm not saying I believe it's rigged but how can so many calls be missed when there is so many officials on the field? Some PI calls don't get called until the players themselves start throwing their arms up and complaining so long after the play? then the flags come out. The missed calls in this year's play-offs, Navarro Bowman's fumble, how did they miss that? with all the cameras they have around, they still miss it...oh but it's not reviewable.

Eli wins SB in Peyton's house, now Peyton goes to Eli's house in what could be his final year, gee wonder who wins? You think after Peyton's record setting season the league would allow Russell Wilson to upstage Peyton? Patriots SB win after 9/11...NO win after Katrina

but not just football the Red Sox win after the Boston Marathon tragedy....anything happen in an NHL city this year? I'm putting money on that team to win the Stanley Cup! lol...actually it is happening...the Leafs suck but continue to win against better teams...time to face it...it's their year...I hate the Leafs and their fairweather fans but looks like the league wants a Toronto Stanley Cup....haven't won since 1967...it is time.

Back to football...I get it...it's a business...it's a product and there is tons of $ to be made. I'll just sit back and watch how it all unfolds.

You can choose to believe it or not. Either way, there's nothing you can do about it, so you may as well just live with it instead of driving yOurself crazy.

The only real conspiracy that exists in the nfl is that they actively skew the rules to benefit the offense at the expense of the defense. I think people really overstate how much they think the league wants a certain team to win. They don't care who wins as long as fans are watching and money is being made. If the league was soooo fixed why do we still have teams that have never won a super bowl? What better feel good story could exist more than the Browns finally winning one? Anyone who's played the game knows that some games are so badly officiated that it feels like the refs are in the opposing team's pockets but that's rarely true. Just because something feels true doesn't mean it is true.
