So with all this jibber jabber on every thread about who would be more valuable for the Titans, Tunsil or Ramsey, why don't we have an honest discussion about which position is more valuable in the modern era. But lets take this a step further. Which position is it more important to have a "stud" or "elite level" player at?

Heres one way to look at it, just to begin the discussion.

Of the top 20 Offensive Tackles in the league last year, guess how many helped take their teams to the playoffs?
    Four.
Whitworth (Cincy), Williams and Moses (Washington) and Veldheer (Arizona).

Meaning the other 16 top OT's didn't get to the playoffs. I'm talking about you Joe Thomas.

    Now lets check CB's.
Of the top 20 CB's in the league last year, how many helped get THEIR teams to the playoffs?
    THIRTEEN.
Peterson and Mathieu (AZ), Harris Jr. and Talib (Den), Sherman (Sea), Butler and Ryan (NE), Norman (Car), Jones (Cin), Munnerlyn (Min), Shields and Rollins (GB) and Breeland (Was).

From this perspective, having at least one top tier CB makes a much, much larger impact on the success of a team. Having two is even better.

Can you guess who I'm leaning towards with my pick now?

    Corner

QBs are being taught, and plays are being designed to get rid of the ball at record numbers. So blockers aren't going to be holding their blocks as long.

With that being said, it puts more pressure on DBs to stick with their man in shorter time frames.

Is this Corner that we draft going to be the Face of the Franchise for the next 15 years or is that going to be Mariota?

I lean toward protecting our golden boy opposed to drafting some athlete at Corner.

Overall I would say OT is more important.

Ramsey is the best DB prospect since Patrick Peterson though...

Granted Tunsil is probably the best LT prospect in some time too.

Gonna be a tough call, which is why I am really hoping to trade back if a sweet deal is on the table.

I also want to say I think Ramsey is a Stud.

But we are another QB injury away from hitting the franchise reset button again.

With better CB/secondary play, the Titans win a few more games last year. The same can be said about the Oline also though.

My opinion is, a team can get by with a "solid" offensive line. "Solid" CB play isn't good enough in a pass happy league. There needs to be at least one great player taking away one side of the field/the opposing teams best receiver.

That being said the Oline for the Titans HAS to be much better. Drafting a rookie in the first round and throwing in there with a bunch of scrubs doesn't make much difference overall. Even if he is "elite."

An "elite" CB changes how opponents have to play your team and is a bigger impact player overall.

I wonder what is going on in JR's mind! Tough spot to be in, but either way our team will be improved. I am hoping he can finagle a deal.

One of the reasons the three cone and ability to open their hips are paramount.

CB is a premium position folks. Don't believe me? Look at the Titans last year... Even our depth was waaaay below depth average of "maybe he can play a few drives before he blows it"
