it made the first one watchable in comparison, and that's saying something.
And the first one was an insulting piece of .
Nothing tops Twilight, stupid movie to fill the teenage girls their wet dreams, TEENS WITH OUT SHIRT ALERTS!!
Ok, I'm going to defend a few.
Transformers 2 was great for what it was, you just have to expect a super cheesy movie based with bad acting and very little effort at plot or anything else. What you did get was two hours of giant transforming fighting robots, and it delivered with that. If you want more, go to a different movie.
District 9 was a great movie, and it got a lot of that from being able to not take itself too seriously and add some humor to what could have been a preachy movie. Great acting, great action, and surprising plot. Had some limits, but it was not the movie I expected it to be, despite the thread posted three months before it came out saying it looked like the most predictable movie ever. If anything, District 9 was the most underrated movie of the year, and once people started seeing it, appreciation for it rose considerably.
District 9 was my 2nd favorite movie of 09, right behind Inglourious Basterds.
But Paranormal Activity was by far the most overrated movie of 09 imo. I rented it the other day and watched it on the couch and didnt flinch/shake once. I dont know why everyone claims it to be "the scariest movie" they've ever seen. Perhaps because they were in a dark theater and alot of girls are skittish and influenced the mood. Pathetic movie though.
Yes Paranormal sucked.
I'd add Basterds as an overhyped flick as well. Decent movie but not the greatest thing since sliced bread as some would have you believe. Half the film was Hogan's Heroes on steroids and the other half was stolen straight out of the book of Leone/Morricone. Should Tarantino be considered a genius for plagiarism?
Gran Torino sucked...
whatever! Gran Torino is a masterpiece!
However, Paranormal Activity was abysmal. All of that laying around in bed literally put me to sleep... I liked Inglorious B@$tard$ a great deal. I had no idea it lacked originality so. I was actually hoping for a little more bloodshed in a few more messed up situations. I thought there would be more missions, more exploits, more ambushes... I liked Brad Pitts character. His accent was horrendous, but I liked the character, Aldo the Apache.
