Most Teams Must Have Capable QB To Compete And Win

    This is pretty much the golden rule in the NFL.....

    It is why teams like New England win yearly with Tom Brady and its why teams like Arizona and Kansas City have been in the bottom of the standings because they don't have a capable starter or backup.

    Lets look at playoff teams...Exactly half of the teams in the playoffs this year have either a rookie or second year QB.... so its being proven that for some QB's it doesn't take long to make it.However for every Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson who make it in you have Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton who don't.

    The first list is veteran QB in this year playoffs.The second list is first and second year QB in this year

    Denver has Peyton Manning
    New England has Tom Brady
    Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers
    Atlanta has Matt Ryan
    Baltimore has Joe Flacco
    Houston has Matt Schaub

    There are also teams who get lucky and have QB who come in and seem to do a good job as rookies or in their second year.

    Indy has Andrew Luck
    Washington has Robert Griffin III
    Seattle has Russell Wilson
    San Francisco has Colin Kaepernick
    Cincinnati has Andy Dalton
    Minnesota has Christian Ponder


    There are teams who can't seem to find QB to get them in contention and year in and year out


    Kansas City--Matt Cassell
    Buffalo-Ryan Fitzpatrick
    Oakland--Carson Palmer
    Philly--Mike Vick
    Dallas----Tony Romo (has missed playoffs in last four out of five seasons)
    Chicago--Jay Cutler (one appearance in four seasons)
    San Diego--Phillip Rivers (been three or four years since last appearance)
    NY Jets--Mark Sanchez (missed last two years)
    Detroit--Matt Stafford (made one appearance in four years)
    Miami--Chad Henne

    Teams that missed this year but usually make the playoffs....

    Eli Manning---NY Giants
    Drew Brees--New Orleans
    Ben Roethlisberger--Pittsburgh

    Teams who drafted rookies last year who missed playoffs both seasons...

    Jake Locker--Tennessee
    Blaine Gabbert--Jacksonville
    Cam Newton--Carolina
    Josh Freeman--Tampa
    Sam Bradford--St Louis three years
    Colt Mccoy--Cleveland three years

    Oh yay! didn't notice that the Giants missed the playoffs. Glad, guarantee they won't get it again... Tired of Pats/Giants super bowls.

    It is a QB league. The rules are set up that way to give them the advantage.

    If you don't have an elite QB then you better have a great defense. 49ers, Seahawks, and Bengals have helped their young QBs by having top 10 defenses.

    I think the Titans need to focus on the OL and the defense. If Locker is an elite QB then he certainly should be able to show it with the offensive skill guys that we have.
