Watched a horror movie at work last night

    Oculus

movie is about an evil mirror that F's with peoples mind. Was pretty damn good till towards the end when it just got - I dont know - sloppy and hard to follow. Might have been the directors intent but it felt like cheating to me

still got the hair on the back of the neck up a couple of times so I enjoyed it.

Plus Boomer is in it and the female lead is pretty real hot

That seems to be a common problem that plagues a lot of horror movies these days. Too often it seems like they just focused on coming up with a halfway decent premise and the ending was an afterthought. A poor ending can really kill a film. Sucks when you enjoy a movie only to feel gypped by the ending like that.

The Mrs and I saw "Maleficent" last week.
It's....a whole new story. Reasonably enjoyable, but lots and lots of fantasy world sortof stuff. Might be good for the D&D crowd.
Basically: right off the bat Maleficent is introduced as the heroine rather than villain and isn't human at all but is a fairy queen of an enchanting landscape.
I honestly don't know how to rate that sort of film.

Looking forward to seeing DOTPOTA. Rise of the POTA was quite good. Andy Sirkis knocks another \CGI performance out of the park.

A Million Ways to Die in the West was just boring.

Every funny bit, you saw in previews.

The Raid 2 was pretty badass. Best fight scene I've ever seen is in it.

22 Jump St. is just as funny as the first. Loved it.

I haven't seen any theatrical release horror in 2014 that hold up all through the film.
There are a few Indies that deliver including The Returned, which had a nice punch-in-the-gut ending..

As far as these shakey-cam found footage movies go, they are all pretty much a dime a dozen.
Of course there's always an exception - and that would be a flick called Afflicted. Surprisingly fresh given the method - but again, a soft ending..

just got back from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

clearly setting up Battle For in a few years. And that is fine by me

enjoyed the movie but suffered some serious sticker shock. Over $20 for me and my wife to gain entrance. I was stunned

anyways quite enjoyed the movie. Not $20 worth but that aside was a good time
