The Titans started Monday with 90 players.

By the end of the day, their roster count was 77 after releasing 13 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline to reach the NFL mandated 75-man roster.

Coach Mike Munchak said some of the early decisions were based on injuries at other positions.

The players released were kicker Maikon Bonani, receiver Justin Hilton, receiver Roberto Wallace, receiver Diondre Borel, safety Tracy Wilson, cornerback George Baker, linebacker Greg Jones (injured), linebacker Kadarron Anderson, center Eloy Atkinson, guard Oscar Johnson, tackle Barry Richardson, tight end Martel Webb and tight end DeMarco Cosby (injury settlement).

“This week I think is the hardest week in football,’’ Munchak said. “This cut, and the cuts this weekend.”

All NFL teams must trim their roster to 53 players by Saturday.

Munchak said last week the Titans plan to place receiver Kevin Walter on the Physically Unable to Perform list for the regular season. Walter began training camp on PUP after having back surgery earlier last month.
