Hey don't knock Dell laptops. I had one for 5/6 years in the Marines. It saw sand, dust, ocean water, and countless other things I probably cannot mention. It only saw its limits the last year. So outside of a toughbook, that thing earned my respect.
Dells were great back in the day... durable... reliable.... but they seem to gone down hill... the programs that come with the computer are a headache to deal with
Yea like I said this was 06 and spent a great bit of coin to get something top of the line back then. I went the cheaper route with my ASUS this time and it does everything I need.
This had something to do with their decline as well. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/29/technology/29dell.html?pagewanted=all Im sure many have good stories. I bought an alienware because I always heard they were good. However it was a rush decision because mine had just broke and I did not know that Dell had purchased alienware.... as soon as I found out i wanted to hit myself. In the past year and 2 months, i have had to replace my hard drive, video card, and power supply. And this is the best of the 3 dells that i have owned in my life.........
Really the best route is to just build yourself, or get one someone has built for you. I think newegg will do it, and you can save alot of money that way. With laptops, I really only need it to do a few things now, so cheaper is typically better for me. Plus with the way technology is moving, I am not going to be spend $2K every 2/3 years.
We went with an HP. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...14&Ntx=mode matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1
oh why TJ WHY?!?!?! huh.. ultrabook... i5, quad core (i think).... no cd/dvd might hurt.... really hope you got one with durable hardware... seems like something always goes wrong with the insides ><
