Those who say "player x needs a year suspension" are not getting the point.

This is a tipping point in the league. There is a new commish, and a new standard. His "discretion" means clowns are going to be suspended or kicked out.

If the player union wants to go to bat for the player's "right" to be clowns and shine a negative media spotlight on the league, let them tilt at windmills.

It is a very simple thing for someone to not make the headlines. A little self control and common sense is all it takes.

But if players want to make the lesson harder by resisting the punishment meted out, there is little alternative but to raise the punishment, and maybe make him an "example" by banning him for life.

This is a moment for him to shut up and do what he is told, and if he can't do that, then maybe a rap career would be a good thing for him.

So you're saying Goodell doesn't get it?

Yeah, I saw that, that council also includes Takeo Spikes of the Eagles and James Thrash of the Redskins, so how long do you think it'll be before Shockey gets suspended? :ha: :sarcasm:
