SUMMARY: Titans coach Jeff Fisher commented today on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against Pacman Jones during Sunday's win over Jacksonville. Jones jumped up on the goal post after an 83-yard interception return for a score and slid down drawing the flag. In two previous TD celebrations, the officials had picked up the flag since Jones returned to his feet. “Pac’s two prior episodes on the goal posts were not a foul in the league’s opinion at the time at which they reviewed them, and yesterday it should not have been a foul,” Fisher said. “However, after looking at yesterday’s act and several other demonstrations that have taken place throughout the last few weeks, from this point on, they very strongly recommend (Jones) do something other than use the goalpost as a prop because it will be considered a prop and he will be penalized.” Fisher said his celebration of choice is for a player to put the ball on the ground or hand it to an official.

After watching a player from SF get penalized Thursday for using the end zone pylon to celebrate I wondered how Pac could use the goal post and not get one. That answered that.

I was commenting about the rule, not Pacman. You really need to think things out before you reply.

you read this little paragraph on this thread, then you read something like this.

"You can’t help but think that the personal foul penalty called against Cornerback Pacman Jones on Sunday was as much a result of who he is as what he did.

It’s entirely possible that he has achieved a reputation among referees similar to that of Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson or DeAngelo Hall — players whose actions typically cause an overreaction.

The NFL’s director of officiating even acknowledged in a phone conversation with Coach Jeff Fisher on Monday that the flag should not have been thrown when Jones jumped on the goal post to celebrate a touchdown. It was the third time this season Jones performed the move but the first time it was deemed inappropriate and worthy of a 15-yard penalty."

That's a strange deal. You cannot have it both ways. If it is a penalty to use equipment as part of your celebration, I don't think you can say that a pylon is equipment and a goal post isn't. There needs to be some consistency.
