NFL Draft '07: Pick #188: Texas Tech WR Joel Filani

Filani is a real talent...I'm surprised he fell this far. The coaching staff is going to have a tough time cutting WRs, unless we trade a few away.

 

Did the Texas Tech system cause him to break those tackles in the video? He looks as good as youre going to get for a WR in the later rounds. Good pick

 

I like this pick, Filani has great hands, great work ethic, and he's made some big catches in big games (2006 Texas A&M game, 2005 Nebraska game in Lincoln, Holiday Bowl 2004). He's not the fastest receiver, but I think it's something that he can overcome.

PS. I am a student at Texas Tech, so I am a little biased.

 

So should I expect to have us lose Roydell or Roby? Maybe both? I figure Filani would have to work real hard to secure a spot, but I figure he could be gone from the equation as well.

 

are we planning on moving someone from wr to cb?

 

Roby is pretty much our current ONLY kick return guy. Yeah, we could use Finnegan or Waddell (as long as the toddlers don't get him again), but Roby is the only one who has experience as a return guy here. Maybe we will get a KR specialist in a later pick...

 

i watched a few highlight reels of filani, and i know they only show the good plays in highlight reels, but even just by judging on that, i think he'll be alright, potentially earn a slot position

 

maybe that Paul Williams that we drafted.

 

Chris Davis will definitely be a return man too

 

i thought that at first, but when he was asked about it, he didn't seem like he was ready or willing to try to play corner, I don't see this guy ever getting off of the practice squad. He's got no will to win
