Not too long ago, the Tennessee Titans had one of the most fearsome defensive fronts in all of football.

Now, the Titans have had a revolving door of linemen and the unit has consistently failed to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. After Jason Babin went to Philadelphia, and the team cut Tony Brown, Tennessee had to do something to bolster the front four, and the club went out and signed Shaun Smith to a deal.

Sadly, without Jim Washburn at the helm, it will be for nothing, as the defensive line guru that turned so many mediocre prospects into top talents has left for Philadelphia. Washburn was the heart and soul of the Tennessee defense, and without him, the team has gone through a massive amount of change in terms of its toughness up front.

The Titans have major question marks in terms of their front four, and who knows what they're going to get out of second-year player Derrick Morgan, who blew out his ACL in his rookie season, before the team had a chance to see what he truly had to offer. The young player has to step up in a big way, or Tennessee is going to struggle to get pressure on a weekly basis.

Without pressure, the Titans' mediocre secondary is going to be exposed, and teams will score at will against the weakened defensive unit. The Mike Munchak era is underway, and he is going to have to work miracles to get the franchise back to the point where it can be like an AFC contender.

Jeff Fisher didn't leave him much to work with, and thanks to the lockout, Munchak has been unable to put his imprint on the franchise. Now, he will have to scramble to get his player to buy into his system and get the team to the point where it can compete in the AFC South.

If you're a Titans fan, you can't be too confident about next season, even if the team finally has a quarterback for the first time in years. Matt Hasselbeck's arrival won't mean anything if Tennessee can't stop anyone, a problem that has been evident since Jim Schwartz left for Detroit.

Smith is a decent signing, but he won't change the culture on the defensive front for the Titans.

This guy acts like the defensive line was tough with Washburn here last year. They were pretty mediocre most of the season.

That sounds like what happened last year with Washburn.

Yeah I won't take anything away from Washburn because he has made a lot of our lineman a lot of money but we've also had some of the worst lineman here too. So I can't believe that our line is gonna just flat out suck because he's gone.

The media love to stick the boot in. Who is this guy anyway?

I think we need another DT, preferbly a starter and things will look better. I'm looking at JJ starting at DE, with 2 bigger guys inside.

That can be the only reason we haven't signed a DE yet. It'll have to be Morgan and Jones on the outside with Smith and a player TBD in the middle.
