I laugh at anyone suggesting it is okay because it is already in the budget. Every fiscal year I was encouraged/forced to make purchases to meet our budget so it didn't shrink the next year. Everyone wants the economy fixed until it starts hitting close to home.

Well I'd like to know one way or another.

Does it count for training hours so the pilots are going to fly those hours anyway? If so, the only difference is they aren't doing it over a stadium.

It does 'technically' count for training hours. Like I said before, you are going to be hard pressed to find and military pilot trying to get his hours. This is just an excuse for the military to have for recruiting and to do at their leisure.

I mean, all it is is flying in a straight line. Nothing tactical about it, they do not actual get any sort of benefit from it. Any time a pilot is flying those are hours, when and how they fly gets broken down further. Every day of the week pilots are flying anyway, what is one extra day, maybe once a year really going to get these guys?
    Fry high fives this.

    I'm just not following.

Why don't they cancel other flights and allow these as training hours? Why is this considered an extra day of flying when it should just replace another day?

If the government is making the military cut their budget I can imagine it would be hard to justify keeping this expense. At the same time. If a team wants it I do not think it is too much for them to kick in a little gas money to make it happen.
