He wont get cut. He has one more chance to show he can play up to his potential, and I think he will do just that. If he doesn’t, then we just wont re-sign him. I’m expecting a big year from him, barring any injury. He knows this is his last chance just like Albert did.

My point (which reo convinced me of) is, that if B. Jones won't make a significant contribution, we won't cut a younger player who has more years on his deal just to keep him for depth. So unless he clinches the 1, 2, or 3 spot, I think he will be cut. We'd rather have Paul Williams for deep depth than B. Jones.

We will cut a younger player that sucks and has shown nothing (paul williams, chris davis) quicker than a struggling older guy that has shown he can play.

Amen. Brandon Jones has actually made some plays on the field and earned his way onto it. That counts for more than some of the younger guys.

First of all, I do not think that Jones has shown that he can play. Second of all, we would give that younger guy a chance to prove himself, since he would come cheaply for longer. But I still think Davis is going, but P.W. might make it.

    Edit: My 1,000 post! :whoop:

Why would you think Davis is going (4th round pick that has played and made catches here and there) and Paul Williams (3rd round pick that hasn't even sniffed the field) will stay?

Paul Williams is the one guy I'd put my salary on when it comes to cuts. He hasn't even had a good practice yet, as far as we know. And when a 4th round receiver gets way more PT than you do in your rookie years, you're already in trouble.

As far as Brandon Jones not doing anything; he's got almost 1,000 yards receiving while being injury prone. Those other guys are healthy and can't get 50 yards in a season, much less 300.

He has made 7 cathces. And he was mainly brought in for KR duties, which he has been relieved of. And Paul has great potential, and he seems to have made progress, from what I have heard.

It is a 3rd versus a 4th! There is (almost) no difference!

Because he started! And he doesn't start anymore because he cannot catch the ball. Remember the Colts game?

or traded. don't forget that possibility.

and everyone i've talked to that's actually seen PW in practice, says he's looked really good so far. imo he's not going anywhere.

like you said, if jones doesn't start then he's gone and he's not starting.

was talking to one guy that made a very interesting comparison between Ealy and the last guy to work the slot at the beginning of camp year... Roby. He was all the rage last year in the media. Everyone talked about how well he was working w/ VY and where is he now? Cut.

Don't be surprised if they're holding a couple guys down lower on the depth chart on purpose in order to make them work harder to earn their spots.

Good points. I forgot about Roby. That does not bode well for Ealy, does it? I doubt anyone would trade anything but a conditional pick for Jones.
