Even tho this question isn't directed at me.. Are you treating this like a gamble or an investment? There are plenty of gambling addicts out there who aren't addicted to casino games. You can gamble on stocks all day long. It really depends on what you are trying to do? Are you planning to build a portfolio of long term investments or are you trying to do short term or even both?

Honestly, most of this options stuff is all crap I remember from school and a few workshops I took a decade ago.

I actually have a friend right now that wants me to sign up for a class with him and get started making options trade. It's something I'm seriously considering in the next year.

 

Here's what you do. Forget about 401k's, portfolios and stock brokers. Buy a bunch of weed, sell it to middle school kids at twice the going rate, and use that as your principle to invest in stocks like Kraft Foods and other companies every-day people buy from. Can't go wrong investing in companies tied to the NFL either.

 

What are you going to do with all this money? Lets say you earned (not won) $10,000 tomorrow, what would you spend it on?

 

I would definitely separate your money into two categories/two strategies: Long-term and "mad money".

It's as proven as can be that investing the same amount over time will beat the professionals. Like investing $1000 split between S&P/Nasdaq twice a year over your entire lifetime.

"mad money" feel comfortable if you lose it and then you can take high risks to try to get really high gains.


If you get too crazy will 100% of your cash, that can cause problems.
