Oscar Winner Karl Malden Dies

    LOS ANGELES — The family of Karl Malden says the actor who won an Oscar for his role in "A Streetcar Named Desire" has died at age 97.

    His greatest fame came as Detective Mike Stone in the 1970s TV series "The Streets of San Francisco," in which he co-starred with Michael Douglas.

    Streets of San Francisco was a great show for its time (at least before they replaced Michael Douglas with Richard Hatch). Never forget the episode where Michael Douglas was investigating a dead body in the Tenderloin - he finds some red stuff on a counter - so he licks it.. "It's blood alright..." Times have changed (esp in that town)....
