I see us going 6-4 the rest of the year, finishing 8-8. Not what we hoped for, but it's acceptable.

mediocrity is never acceptable imo. :gaah::nono:

If this team can continue to play like they did tonight, we may get on hot streak and make a wildcard run. Lets just hope our players do not get too far ahead of themselves and remain focused on each game as it comes.

There is still a lot of room for improvement. Our defense needs to learn to tackle and wrap up. They were better at it tonight than they have been in the past few weeks, but there was still at least 5 or 6 times in the game when we gave up big gains due to players simply not wrapping upon a tackle. Things your supposed to learn to do in high school ball. We need to find a way to get more pressure on the QB, and this zone defense crap is going to have to change.

Offensively, by far our best game of the season. We looked like everyone was on the same page. The line was effective, blocking well and CJ looked good. He wasn't playing hopscotch in the back field, he found his hole, made his cut, and took off.

I noticed the penalties had dropped, the focus was there and they seemed to be much more motivated, than they have been in weeks past. The next few weeks should be interesting. :toast:

Well, 6-4 in the last 10 games is acceptable. Add that to the bad, but expected 2-4 we've started with, it adds up to 8-8.
Before the season that would've have disappointed me, but looking at how horrible we've played in the first 6 games, finishing 8-8 is acceptable.

Ok I can agree with that. I think that this team can keep it all together, we could be in the wildcard hunt. I remember saying that if we were 1-4 in the first 5 games of the season, I would be happy. We did play some good teams, but we should have never been blown out by the Vikings. After tonight we are 2-3 and the hardest teams are off our schedule. Its going to be interesting to see if tonight was a flash in the pan or if we have finally put something together.

Basking in mediocrity. I want to go from an occasional success to something we can be proud of. I don't want the ones we squeak by sidetrack us from fixing the problems.

I'd rather go 3-13 and end up with a top 5 pick than go 8-8

I understand that mentality. Might as well lose to gain something from it rather than win by the skin of your teeth and being satisfied with where you are at. I want this team fixed to be dominate. If a higher draft pick is the way to do it, then so be it. Losing draws attention to our problems so that hopefully they get fixed. Barely winning seems to hide the problems we know we have. That is the impression I get from this team anyway.

LOL. After every loss there's a thread about how we're going lose the majority of our remaining schedule. After every victory there's one about how we're going to win the majority.

Make no mistake about it. This is still a very bad football team. We finally put together a solid effort for 4 quarters against a decent team. And with a little luck (what, like 10 injuries) we were able to pull out a victory with a last second FG.

Not trying to rain on the parade. Just being realistic. IMO the biggest flaw with this team, and it's an absolute killer, is that our defense still cannot tackle. And the bottom line is you're not going to win many games if you don't tackle. If you have Tom Brady running your offense then maybe you get away with it. But we hardly have the offensive firepower to mask the ineptness of this defense.

Great win. I still don't see us winning anymore than 5-6 game max.

I really don't think the team that played last night was all that different that the team we saw the 1st 5 weeks of the season. Really the only difference was that we cut out the penalities, and held on to the ball on offense. Those 2 things have been killing us the past several weeks, and I think things just tended to spiral out of control in most of those games and we ended up getting blown out. I don't know if we are better than our record shows, but I think we are better than the point differential shows.

It is amazing how much better our D can play in the 3rd and 4th quarter when they aren't gassed. Not perfect, they will give up a lot of yards and some of the tackling was really bad, but they kept PIT out of the endzone for the most part all night long, and thats about all we can expect from this young D IMO

If the running game and keep going like it did last night, and we eliminate all the stupid penalties and turnovers (like we did last night) then I think we can win a lot more games. The hard part of the schedule is behind us, and there are a lot of 'beatable' teams ahead of us. I am not going to say we beat all those teams becuase we could go back to making dumb mistakes and rushing for 12 ypg, but hopefully we are turning the corner.
