Does forcing her to listen to the song constitute some form of violence?

    Wow.

I suppose if you want to play the apologist for the country music genre, you can build a case that it was just the video for "Thunder Rolls" that dealt with the theme of wife beating.

    And what about Earl?

To deny wife beating themes in country music is like denying occult themes in heavy metal, or thug life themes in rap.

It is there, deal with it.

Ok, so it might appear in a few country songs (which are not songs I listen to) that doesn't mean that's what it's all about. That's like saying 'ok, there are a few Rock songs about suicide so everyone who listens to Rock music is suicidal' it just doesn't make sense. Please actually get an idea of what a genre is really about before you start bashing it.

Country's more about being drunk and bad lyrics. Probably bad lyrics due to being drunk, which makes sense.

A lot of country actually has some good lyrics, there are a fair amount of simply drinking songs, but also many songs that really have substance behind them.

It is as valid a stereotype as drive-by shootings and devil worship for rap and rock.

And of course, is as closely linked as gays and showtunes.

Country fans are just as easy to stereotype and mock.
