However, an appeal might be a necessary prerequisite to filing a civil suit.

if you had a clue about how the legal system worked you would know record has zero to do with it.
(and it is totally irrelevant in a civil matter)

It is not even possible to bring up past criminal offenses (at least in Australia).

You are both wrong. Someones criminal history is relevent. It goes to show "character & credibility". Civil law suits are different from criminal law suits. Maybe you should get a clue.

yes, for witnesses, but for the person on trial or the plantiff, previous arrests and criminal records cannot be used to determine whether someone is guilty or has a viable reason to sue.

You do realize that those teams have more differences than criminal records right? like that the Spurs are actually good

In this "civil suit" that adam would be filing, it would not be a situation where the court was determining weather adam was guilty of anything. He wouldn't be on trial. He would be a witness and complaintant.

You don't award a civil suit victory for a habitual petty theif against a store owner who had him arrested for theft. (just an analogy. but the premise is the witness/complaintants character comes into play)

But, just because you lose the civil law suit does not mean you go to jail.

he would not be witness, he would be the plaintiff. so why would his record(which is actually fairly short) be the cause of a judge not awarding him anything, even if he deserved to be compensated?
