PS3 is producing some decently rated games recently (VF5, NBA Homecourt and then there is Resistance)

 

God of War II is PS3's check-point game that'll buy them some time before others come out, but it isn't multiplayer and probably doesn't have an online mode which is where all the hype is right now.
If you don't have an online vs mode, you're gonna be at a huge disadvantage these days. I can't wait for Assassin's Creed, but that's one of my complaints with it already. No online.

 

God of War 2 is PS2.

 

But it will be playable on the PS3 with a 720p resolution.

I am going to have to pick it up.

There was a good point made in last week's IGN weekly - game developers do not need to push every game online. Some games are simply not meant to be played online and they should stay that way, rather than adding some useless online play just because everybody else is doing it.

 

lol yeah. Everyone else is doing it because it's what people want in a game these days. It's called replay value. Most of us go through a campaign, and then the game collects dust. However, with online you have the campaign and a BONUS! Online. Where you can enjoy the experience with friends, and even strangers.
To find a negative with that, is reaching and nothing but reaching. Some game developers are lazy, or some just haven't figured out how to do it it seems.

 

Really the only games that benefit from online play are shooters, sports games and MMORPGs

 

yeah, i just cant see four kratos characters running through a map with people hitting random buttons. what fun!
