Quarterback Controversy

Those back-to-back sacks hurt, no doubt. I didn't tape the game, so can't go back to make sure, but it didn't seem like Collins had a lot of time to react (get rid of the ball) before getting sacked either time (I did wonder what he was doing on the 2nd one -- it seemed like he was trying to spike the ball -- if he wanted to get an incomplete pass call (which was probably his intent) he needed to throw the ball forward, not just into the ground (but he probably would've gotten called for intentional grounding if he'd done that).

Still, Collins didn't lose the game for Tennessee. I understand VY's injury isn't considered serious, so he should certainly be the starting QB if he's healthy enough to play. It's too soon to worry about a couple of poor performances from a guy who is in his 2nd year in the NFL. In the history of the league, there have been only a handful of guys who have been complete QBs that early in their careers. You have to give these guys 3-4 years before it's really fair to evaluate them.

 

I have been hard on VY too but

Plus it was Steve Young who said that VY has the element that all the great qb's have. He has the qb moxy. Not many have it. He does. He has it in spades. Those are the words Steve Young chose. Not me.

Moxy is fine but when you have twice as many ints as Tds that's a problem. Vince is on pace to throw 19 ints this year.

 

Teegee, they didn't blitz collins they played zone most of the time. When vince is in there they blitz all the time. He has to make them pay for that either by running or throwing the ball down the field..
