So yesterday Murray got 12 running plays and on all of them Mariota was under center. Of those 12 plays 5 of them gained 4 or more yds. Henry had 11 touches and he had 5 with Mariota under center and 6 from the shotgun. On Henry's carries when Mariota was under center he only had 1 of 5 that gained over 4 yds. While on all 6 of his carries from the shotgun he gained over 4 yds (9,4,10,6,5,6).

We know that Murray thrived in the Dallas scheme with Romo under center and floundered in Philly. From the distribution yesterday it certainly seems like we are being smart in trying to put Murray in the situation that best fits his style. I loved seeing the simple toss sweep on the last drive. Such a simple play but if blocked correctly very effective.

I think the shotgun runs success were irrelevant to Henry (vs. Murray) being in the game. That's more of a passing formation and may have caught the D off guard. It's good to mix those in on occasion just to keep the D guessing.
Because we want to run a power football offense, under center makes the most sense. Murray's style isn't to catch a D off guard, but more to let you know, we're running right at you. Being able to draw up some good passing plays from the dominant run formations would be key to help MM. Play action and screens can work. Have to have success running in those formations though.
