The Titans have said goodbye to one reserve running back and signed another.

The team released running back Jamie Harper, a fourth-round selection in the 2011 draft, and signed former Jacksonville running back Jalen Parmele.

Tennessee had hoped the 5-11, 233-pound Harper would be a good change of pace back to complement Chris Johnson, but he leaves with 36 carries for 74 yards and four touchdowns over two seasons.

Harper was bothered by an ankle injury at times last year and he wound up playing in 10 of the team’s 16 games.

The 5-11, 225-pound Parmele has played in 35 career NFL games over five seasons. He started two games last year for Jacksonville. One of his starts came Nov. 25 against the Titans, when Parmele carried eight times for 45 yards. Parmele went on injured reserve for the remainder of the year after suffering a groin injury in that game.

Parmele is considered to be a bit more versatile than Harper, as he’s had seven career catches for 60 yards and has also returned 43 kick-offs for a 25.1-yard average.

    Good luck to him elsewhere.

Everyone dogging on him but he has had 40 career attempts in 2 years, behind the same line that everyone fully admits SUCKED. Lets not hate on him TOO much guys.

Bye to one of our worst picks in recent memory. I still believe he would have gone undrafted and we blow a 4th on him :( Eh, just another case of the F.O. falling in love with a player and over drafting him.

Ok, so Harper didn't exactly pan out... but why sign Parmele? Camp body? dude is never going to see the field behind CJ, Greene, and Reynaud.

Walterfootball ranked Parmele as the 13th best FA RB....

#13: Jalen Parmele, RB, Jaguars. Age: 26. Jalen Parmele didn't look half-bad in two brief stints against the Texans and Titans, rushing for a combined 125 yards on 32 carries. Unfortunately, he tore his groin in the latter contest, so we haven't seen much of him.

    Reynauld has competition now.

Harper was BAD! bad line or not, you can tell what kind of runner he was. He was a SOFT runner. and EVERYONE knew that, even before the draft!!! They got enamored with his size and banished the thought that he runs like a 4.3 40 scatback.

I guess we're taking a flyer on this Parmele guy to see what he looks like after surgery, if normal then maybe a good signing even if he's just our #3 back and if not then we can give that Jefferson guy a shot. I'm just glad Harper is gone, a bit surprised they would cut him. Loving this new FO.
