Eric Metcalf was almost identical size. About 5-10, 190. He was a similar player to Hester, but probably was a bit shiftier and not quite as quick straight line. Both have excellent acceleration.

I could never see Hester putting up the running stats of a Metcalf, and Metcalf's receiving stats in Atlanta were a symptom of the run'n'shoot they ran at that time, but he's a similar player. Neither have the size to be a #1 RB, neither are good enough to be a #1 WR in a conventional offense. But both have special talents that can be utilised effectively for significant impact.

  2. we should just use pacman like deon sanders was used... he would work just as well maybe even better because hes a bit shiftier

Look, Hester was such a wonderful receiver in college that he was moved to defense for Miami, a team that was struggling mightily on offense. End of story.

And a team that produces/knows great WR talent. It says a lot.

I'm not sure why everyone's down on Reese for the article. At the time the Lendale White pick was absolutely the right pick.

Reese points out that we already had our returner in Pacman and needed a running back. He was correct to listen to the coaches on that. I think what's discouraging is that LW hasn't lived up to expectations.
