Run game...

Problem is, Hasselbeck is more of passing threat than Jake and they stacked the box last year, now they're going to stack the box even more. CJ just plain and simple can't make anything happen if there aren't huge holes, he can't find holes or make chicken salad out of chicken sh1t. I loved watching those cardinals RBs turn stuffed runs into 9-13 yd gains because of vision and leg drive.

 

Heck even on Harper's TD, same sweep concept but he ducked in behind his guard and pressed the hole so that he created his seam, beautiful.

 

lmao do you mean in the 3rd and 4th quarter when they were playing against our practice squad players? What are you talking about? The Cards had ONE run longer than 5 yards in the first half. Plus we already knew CJ can't run without space. That's not his strength and we should have fixed the o-line if we were going to decide to resign him. Now it's basically a waste since he won't be used to his potential.

 

Actually we were killing them and we were only up 7 at the half, very very disappointed. We didn't do a good job of taking advantage of a terrible Cardinals team and allowed them to stay close. our running game is terrible, Locker hit it right on the head, our run game needs to put us in better down and distance, too many negative runs.

 

Were going to have to do something about Cook. If Cook is asked to block for CJ, CJ's likely getting hit behind the line just about every time. Cook is indescribably awful at blocking.

 

Yesterday was a pretty prime example about what will happen until Locker becomes established in the regular season. The Cardinals were stacking the box and our OL was not good enough to do anything about it.

Johnson only had one run last night that made to question his vision where he had a hole the could have gotten in 2-3 yards on a sweep but tried to go outside with it. We need to get that safety out of the box and slow down those extra defenders keying to shut down our running game and to do that Locker needs to show teams that he can beat them throwing.

 

Yup agreed I saw that same run where he could have cut inside but he kept going to the sideline. Other than that and maybe 1 other run the o-line was having some major issues stopping them.

 

Kind of like, they gameplanned for him.

I understand the frustration, but CJ is not a north/south runner. He has the ability to do it if there are holes but.......
