No, 'who could be worse' is reserved for anyone that is looking to upgrade at any time while having a terrible defensive coordinator that costs us games and keeps us from looking for a superbowl run.

I wonder how the national media would respond to firing a guy who finished the season with the fifth-best defense for someone who finished eighth?

Think any other coordinator would ever accept a job offer to join the Titans?

Probably the same way as SD firing Schottenheimer last year and replacing him with Norv Turner...

Not quite the same. That was done because he didn't get along with the GM.

The defense cost us games??? How many??? How many did the DEFENSE win??? Furthermore, what consistent production from the offense won the majority of ten wins??? Why has Chow been reduced back to the college ranks???

This team is looking to go deep into the playoffs next season. Not a good time to install an entirely new defense unless you KNOW it's going to keep us in contention. When your team is finally climbing out of the hole, you don't just take a shot in the dark. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Top five isn't broke.

three games without an All Pro DT showed that the top 5 D was a result of said top 5 DT and NOT result of proven inept DC

How many games did that probowl DT play in the '06 season??? Didn't exactly put the team on his back, did he??? Most good defenses are dependant on the play of a few players highly skilled at their position, and usually take a little time to adjust to their loss. What you're saying is like saying that Rex Ryan would be nothing without Lewis.

By the way, the defense still held up after Haynesworth came back, though his play was very limited. Haynesworth had a great first half of the season, but how well did your golden boy hold up in the second half of the season??? Some of you are still pretending that Haynesworth came back after his injury.

I was not claiming Fat Albert was anything other than hungry for $$$ here.

Fact is without him in the lineup, being used in spot duty some after he returned to the lineup, the D was ranked in the 30s for that 3 week span.

and I agree that FA needs to bring it every game, not just during a contract year, but that is not an argument that Schwartz is a good DC at all.

It's no argument that he is a bad DC. Top five is plenty of argument that he is a good DC.
