    Well...

The only viable option of the Giants releases is Petitgout.

Arrington is oldish, wants top money, and hasn't been near the same LB from several years ago. He was benched for freelancing too much and couldn't stay within his responsibilities (he thinks he's LT...as in the REAL LT). And coming off a blown Achilles....no thank you. Plus, where would you play him?

Emmons used to be a Bulluck type LB...could cover a lot of ground and could blanket a TE or RB. Not anymore. And since he's not particularly stout against the run and not great in coverage, oldish and has been hampered by injuries....WHY? Even if Healthy, where would we play him?

Neither LA or Emmons can play MLB.

Petitgout is a quality OT who's in his prime but was cut for having a high cap number and he's been plagued by injuries. His backup did a fine job so the Giants are getting a double benefit...freeing cap space and have a younger starter.

Question is, is Petitgout an upgrade over Stewart? Probably, but how much of an upgrade and how much would he cost? Personally, spending money on a FA RT doesn't make sense considering it's the D that needs the serious help!

The other reason Reese (Jerry, not Floyd) dumped these guys is that it appears the Giants will go hard for Clements or Samuel to try and rebuild the rebuilt secondary.
