PredTitan tried to spin this as long as possible.

This is pretty devastating, BUT the goalie is still elite. The real question is there a big move we can make? If not, seems like a big fall off should be expected.

It's very possible that Poile lets Weber walk, and receive 4 compensation picks, and then turn around and trade some of those compensation picks back to Philly for some top-6 forwards.

You'd probably be looking at Timonen or Mezaros coming back in a trade as for defense. Maybe one of our young defensemen that got experience last season and/or a Matt Read.

Nashville payed 52 million last year for their entire roster. If Nash were to match our OS, they'd owe Weber 28 mil in the first year of the contract.

Also the Preds haven't had a profitable season since 2007.

IMO Weber is a Flyer. Not trying to rub it in; I'm just super excited.

I hope not. I like Weber a lot.

Nashville actually comes out okay either way.

Do we want to be competitive now or build for the future?

I'm sad. I want to be competitive now. Losing 2 of the best Dline in the league is rough.

Looks like we will be laying low, well lower at least for a couple of years. Time to find some pieces and rebuild a bit. They have plenty of money...

No Weber and No Suter means the whole identity of this team is gone imo.

Be interesting to see what hapens.

They still have an elite goalie who is now going to be getting lit up. He might set some records with the amount of shots that will be flying at him this year.

    Time to rebuild.

We already have those pieces: Roman Josi and Ryan Ellis, two very very promising young defensemen.
