After browsing through some NFL reading material I came across this article on players wanting the league to rethink its marijuana drug policy.

According to the article marijuana contains a compound called cannabidiol, which has shown scientific potential to be an antioxidant and neuroprotectant for the brain.

At one point Roger Goodell is on record saying; "We’ll continue to follow the medicine… that’s something we would never take off the table if we could benefit our players at the end of the day.” As of today Roger Goodell is yet to follow through on that.

Currently our US Government recognizes marijuana as something that combats Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Link, but why not the NFL? Using marijuana as far as I know does in no way give you an unfair advantage. So why is the NFL still punishing players for something that could solve one of its major problems? The NHL does not even include marijuana in its drug policy.

From the mouth of retired 11-year NFL vet Marvin Washington - "As former NFL players, we recognize our role as leaders and role models. We firmly believe that reforming marijuana policies can, indeed must, go hand in hand with discouraging young people from using marijuana and other drugs. There is no place any longer, either in the NFL or the nation at large, for the injustices and hypocrisies of prohibitionist marijuana policies. It’s time for the NFL to be a leader and create a rational and science-based marijuana policy."

    This is pretty tricky.

Medical marijuana is legal in California, where there are three teams. Medical Marijuana is illegal in Florida, where there are two teams and the Jaguars.

I think you can decide not to test for it, but to make it accepted by a league across multiple states is going to be difficult.

Not to mention that recreational marijuana is still federally illegal.

It won't happen until the majority of the states make it legal. No one wants to be known as the pot president. Can't do it during a first term either.

TN legislature passed the legalization of cannabis oil. Still needs to be signed by governor.

It's all about the money --- eventually they'll realize the profits they can make & will be all over it. What's hilarious is you can get legal pot in CO for CHEAPER than what most illegal dealers sell it for.
