Steppenwolf is not great. Better than social distortion.

Every couple of years I'll go back and watch this film Another State of Mind, which is an iconic filmed account of punk/underground music across the US and parts of Canada - following Social Distortion and Youth Brigade (and Minor Threat). Every good 80's punk in North America like myself would have watched this until the VHS simply wore out. The guys were a couple of years older than me but this was a pretty good near snapshot of how we where in the SoFlo punk scene.. Maybe combine this with the Dog Town doc and it would be dead on.

Every kid learned about Mike Ness from this film..

It breaks my heart to see Steppenwolf on top here. Funny thing that this particular thread made me think of Suicidal Tendencies. I haven't thought of "Institutionilized" in 25 years. Back in my skateboarding thrashing days. Thanks for the memories @CRUDS.

I saw "Steppenwolf" in the late 80s/early 90s at the Tennessee Valley Fair. They were going by the moniker "John Kay and Steppenwolf" at the time.

    worst.show.ever.

John Kay looked horrible and the "band" was a bunch of young guys in their hair metal gear with neon Jackson guitars. It was sadly obvious that they were playing with a backing track.

Why don't you tell your dreams to me. Fantasy will set you free.

    Ugh.
