No we don't. The rules favor passing. We need a quarterback that can throw for 4500 yards.
Good luck finding that.
Can we just read it and dream every word is true?
Of the playoff teams, several are top 10 in the league in RUSHING! Good call RockyTop. I had an exact number last night, but dont feel like looking it up again.
I agree with MCM. I think the best thing for us to do is finally step into the 21st century from an offensive standpoint. Each and every year the rules seem to favor the passing game more and more. Yet we continually insist on trying to revive some past "hard-nosed, run-first" philosophy. And it never works out for us as we had hoped.
That said, I also agree with you that finding a legit franchise QB is easier said than done. But that shouldn't stop us from trying. Franchise QB or no franchise QB, we need to be building towards a 21st century offense rather than a 1960's offense. Barring an absolute shutdown defense, and quite a bit of luck, we're never going to go all the way with a run-first offense.
To your point one big thing I noticed when we made the switch from Locker to Fitz is that we started to get those "the defender barely breathed on the QB" penalties at a much higher rate. While I hate that the league has moved in this direction it is definitely to our advantage to exploit them just like everyone else.
Exactly. I hate the rule changes as much as everyone else but it's idiotic not to take advantage of them. It is what it is.
