I think Elam or Reid will be there at 39, just don't know which one. Pretty sure Vaccaro will be gone by then, and though it sounds trite, I just don't want a safety from Texas.

What we really need to hope for is that the QBs start having great workouts and start going off the board before we pick at 10. It would be amazing if Geno, Barkley, and Glennon all went before our pick and knocked the good players down to where we pick. I could see the first 2 definitely going before we pick to maybe the Raiders or Cardinals. All 3 would be a dream.

What do you guys think of drafting CBs to play safety or converting CBs? I really like Jonathan Banks from Miss St. and if he fell I wouldn't mind putting him at safety if they feel ok with our CB depth. I've also wondered how Verner would be at safety. He's a sure tackler but the slowest of our CBs. Just thinking out loud.

i've thought that tommy cambell might make a decent safety.

In the draft the Amerson kid from NC state I think would make a good safety. He played it in high school. He has nice size and is physical. Not sure if he has the quickness to excel at CB in the NFL, but I thik safety might be his spot.

Look guys we aren't going to draft anyone in the 1st half of the draft with the expectation of moving the guy from CB to S. The FA list on S is pretty nice this year, Byrd, Goldson,Moore, and I wouldn't even mind getting Glover Quin. Sign Quin, cut Babs and go into the draft in decent shape. When good value at S pops up you grab one.

Now I have given this some thought and we have ome CAP space to work with and after we drop some dead weight have quite a bit of CAP space. Just cutting the dead weight on the OL such as Hutch and Amano saves us a little in CAP space and a whole bunch in base pay. But the guy I'm ready to drop is CJ. I've gone to bat for the guy but have reached the conclusion he won't be worth 10 mil. So let him go as well. Then sign some quality FAs to fill some needs and go into the draft in a position to take the BPA.

If we needed the cap room then I could maybe see the reasoning with cutting CJ, but we are sitting pretty well from a cap standpoint and their are plenty of other guys that we could cut to get more money if we needed it.

Guys who I think we could cut that would not greatly impact the quality of play on the field include Hasselbeck, Amano, Hutch, and Washington.

I also think we might have a hard time attracting quality FAs to play for a team with a coach on the hot seat and a QB that still hasn't proven himself. Thus to get them to town would probably mean over-paying them. So why not just keep CJ as the overpaid guy.

I agree about safety. We have to sign one in FA and then grab another when value is right in the draft.

washington has been our most consistant receiver lately why would you cut him?? he has been there for us since he got here and i was all against him when he first came here

second...why not trade cj and get a draft pick out of him and draft a back that can come in and start and do just as well

if we could get byrd and draft vacarro it would be a dream come true, i think we need to resign velasco for sure as he was a decent option for us this year but amano, hutch, and hass along with griffen and cj could all go and i wouldnt mind it...i think we could get a low round draft pick out of griff and a mid round pick for cj though
