I still hope to score a cheap Windozer with a graphics card that can hang.
I'm on steam originally for Company of Heroes but have since bought Far cry and Max Payne for steam.
Rating the three game servers sites i play on.
Battlenet of course is for Blizzard games only and Orgin is for EA games. I only got Orgin because i had to when my son bought Sims for the PC. Since EA doesn't support older command and conquer games they can go to hell as far as i'm concerned.
Blizzard has always taken care of their customers since Warcraft 2.
According to my steam account, I have 60 games on there lol. Fallout, Civilization V(great game), Call of Dooty, Counter-Strike, Half-Life(s), etc etc.
Same name on there as here.
I'm totally on Steam.
It's a place to buy/download video games including new releases. Most major PC games release on Steam now.
I used to hate it but I've grown to really like it. They do help kickstarters and indie games get developed. But I guess if they ever go out of business there goes your game library.
I dont think they will. Origin sucks majorly and theres no other real competition.
When relic closed down their server and moved "company of heroes" to steam i was really bummed. Relic did a great job with their server and some features they had were not inherited on steam. The ranking system for example.
That said it is nice having one game server for so many games and steam has lots of half price sales and free play opportunities.
Do realize that in many cases it is not the steam server you play on, you get redirected to the server for that game. That means registering and having log in name and password at that other server as well. That's the way it is for Max Payne and Far cry.
It's a great Peter Gabriel song.
For just $20 I bought every command and conquer game which were downloaded on orgin. It really bothered me that except for the newest one CnC 4 orgin offered no server to play on.
Fortunately most are available on Game ranger which is a great site for older classic games like Swat 4 and the CnC games. People still love these classic games. Typically there are 12-13 StarCraft brood war games going on game ranger and about as many CnC red alert 2. People never stop playing classic pc games.
So I do recommend Game ranger which downloads in 2 seconds and takes just a minute to register. Swat 4 is a great tactical shooter game for $10 and of you loved the Rainbow 6 series you will definitely love that.
Broken Record, Jr. is all about Steam. He was a PS2, then PS3, then PS4 kid, but these days it's all Steam all the time. I don't know what games he plays, but I'm sure he could kick all of our asses.
