Verner may be slower than most folks would like, but he's very smart, and a great tackler. He reminds me of Ronde Barber in a lot of ways.

We have a very good group right now, maybe the most underrated defense in the league. It won't surprise me one bit to see us have a top 10 D in 2012.

Hopefully all our guys stay healthy.

I think you're drinking some serious kool aid. I think it's far more likely for us to be bottom 10 than top 10 next year.

Our D-line (most important part of a defense) is below average and our safeties are below average too. We have above average CBs and average LBs. I really don't think we have any business in the top 10.

Which is why we should go BPA on defense to get some talent and not just go for need. There is a pretty big chance when it's our pick that the guys we're talking about for the DL will be gone. Now maybe the draft does the opposite and we can pick from just about anyone but considering how young we are and how we really don't have any severe needs on defense BPA is a no brainer. Especially since this draft has plenty of depth at DL.

Just playing devils advocate here, but if we get a good pass rush, that will make everyone else on the field look that much better. If we can manage that I definitely think we can have a top 10 defense. But that's a big "but."

Say we go Mercilus in the 1st (who reminds me a bit of JPP) and Brandon Thompson/Jerel Worthy in the 2nd, that's a killer d-line: Morgan, Casey, Thompson/Worthy, Merciuls. That's not even including Wimbley, who has averaged 7 sacks over his career so far.

Kirkpatrick is the same speed as Verner yet some want to draft him @ 20.

Verner is plenty fast. He might not have the long speed but his quickness (which is by far more important) is way better than McCourty's. Honestly, he should've been starting over McCourty but that argument is for another time. Campbell and Hawkins showed some good things but are both still very raw. We are by no means set at CB, but even so Gilmore should not even be an option in round 1.

As long as Mouton is cut, I'm happy with whoever we have at CB.

How so, His stats? His 1 year of production? Or are u just saying it to say it?
Mercilus isn't even close to JPP in terms of athleticism and flexibility.
