IMO Toomer is someone worth considering if we don't have many more options. Similar player to Gage and maybe we can get a couple more decent years out of him. Toomer is light years ahead of McCariens.

IMO however Boldin is the guy we should go after. I'd be torn between losing AH for Boldin if it came down to either or but I'm not sure Boldin isn't more important. Now that we have CJ and gage looks decent a guy like Boldin could actually make our offense decent instead of sub par. Our D will be solid even if we lose AH.

We should really be able to keep AH and get Boldin. It might limit our options in keeping some of the other guys but the draft and developing the guys we have can fill those spots. AH and Boldin are young enough to carry this team for another 3-5 years. Build the team around those guys and CJ.

Agreed. I've posted that I would like to add Toomer, because you know we're going to get someone old because no one else besides JMac is an 8+ year vet, and he's gone. Toomer, to me, would be the "third time's the charm." And we clearly wouldn't bring him in to be the number one. We'd still have to get that other guy as well, but Toomer would be the relatively inexpensive one. Besides, Collins best year is Toomer's best year, so I think there'd be something to the chemistry. Toomer shouldn't be that expensive, and he's a year younger than Mason.

Look, we have to keep Haynesworth. I've shown that even with a mega-contract, there's room to add another top player on offense, so we could retain AH, and add Q, or Lance Moore, who won't cost that much at all. And I think Toomer could be had in the $2-3M per range. I'd offer Brandon Jones something similar, but less probably. I don't think he's proven as much as Gage to this point, so I wouldn't pay him that way, and Gage earns an average of $3.5M per year. I'd offer Jones 3 years, $7-8M, if that, and if he didn't take it, let him walk. I think if WR looked like this next year, we'd be okay:

    Lance Moore
    Justin Gage
    Amani Toomer
    Brandon Jones
    Lavelle Hawkins
Rookie (flavors of the day: Hakeem Nicks, Ramses Barden. Will be different tomorrow.)

He's an RFA. Saints have to tender or extend him. They're waiting on Meachem to develop into a starter. If they tender Moore at a second round level, he's gone, and someone may gamble a first on him. If the Saints give him the highest tender, a first and third, he's safe, but the Saints aren't known for big deals, usually. Titans are known to be looking at RFA WRs this season. Talk of Lance Moore and Malcolm Floyd of San Diego were spilled a little ways into the seaon. Moore isn't under anyone's radar, but it will be interesting to see what the Saints do, and you can bet they'll try to get away with as little as they can. So, I expect either the 2nd or 1st round tender. If it's the 2nd, when someone makes an offer for Moore, they might then extend him, but they'll try to do without that first, I'd bet.

How much do you think Colston's contract extension was for? Pretty big, right? He is "elite" now, after all. Well, next year, Colston will earn $2.25M, $2.7M in 2010, $3M in 2011, FA in 2012. I don't know what the bonus was, but I'm thinking it couldn't have been all that. So, if they only do this much for Colston, which was admittedly smart, I don't expect Moore to get quite as good treatment.

We don't score points because of lack of offense. We don't score because we can't hold onto it.

Where were they against the Colts?

It was one game, now all of a sudden because he had a monster day against the Steelers we can afford to let AL go? Jones has a bright future ahead of him but he is still very young and has alot to learn. I'm not ready to let him hold AL's jock because of what he did against the Steelers.

any offensive line that william hayes gets a sack against officially sucks.

if we lose haynesworth we lose the only size we have on that side of the ball.
