Am I correct that Scaife and Crumpler are both up this offseason?
Obviously Cook and Stevens are in the fold. What will the depth chart look like at TE?

Eh. Let's hope there are no mediocre ones that Fish can find a way to play over the potential playmaker Jared Cook.

We need to let one of them go for sure, hard to decide which one though. Crump would be cheaper and is a better blocker, but Scaife is the better receiver and VY is really comfortable throwing to him. Bottom line though, we better use Cook after trading up last year to get him. And from what I heard about training camp, he showed some flashes of greatness and some real athleticism.

    1st String - Jared Cook
    2nd String - Craig Stevens
3rd String - Michael Hoomanawanui (6th Round draft pick)

I think Scaife will make way for Cook and as AH3 says Crumpler is a good blocker so I hope we resign him on the cheap.

If no deal works out, I think that makes Scaife a restricted free agent. In that case, we keep him for cheaper than last year with a high tender, and let someone compensate us if he's worth that to them. Personally, I doubt anyone does, and we keep Scaife, Cook, and Stevens.

If there is no CBA, this would work out for the best, although I like Scaife I also wouldn't mind getting some compensation and letting Cook step up next year.

I have not seen much of Steven's blocking but read it is a strength. Can anyone tell me how it compares to Crumpler?

I don't think that's right. Scaife would still be a FA. If he had been an RFA last season, we wouldn't have tagged him; we would have tendered him. So he was a FA last season. That means he will be a UFA this year.

Scaife's situation is muddy. I've read numerous places he'll be restricted because he was in his fifth-season, under contract, last year. I also read that he can't make less than last season even if restricted. I've got an email into Jim Wyatt who I hope can clear this up.

  10. If they want Cook to get significant playing time, as I'd expect, they'll let Scaife move on. Crumpler's future probably depends on how much he wants to stay in Nashville and how much money he wants.
