It looks like the Texans will sign a veteran quarterback this week to play behind Matt Leinart and T.J. Yates.

They worked out five veterans Monday, including one name we haven’t heard in a while.

Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com reports that Jeff Garcia was among the players trying out for Houston on Monday. Also at the session: Trent Edwards, Chase Clement, Brody Croyle, and Kellen Clemens.

Wow, this after the coach gave such props for Leinart and said he is their man? Things must not be going well in practice... He can't be THAT bad, can he? They have the running backs and he just needs to perfect the jump ball to AJ.

Today was our first practice since Schaub's injury. This is just insurance in case Leinart gets taken out too. I don't see how anyone could interpret this any other way.

To be fair... TJ Yates should be the insurance to Matt Leinart.

Bringing in anyone else, at this point, is lack of faith in Leinart and Yates.

Many, MANY, teams only utilize 2 QBs...

Things don't look good for the Texans' offense.

If Leinart gets hurt, I don't see how putting a late-round rookie in control of a playoff bound team is "being fair." We've carried 3 QBs the last 4+ years, and now that Schaub is out it's time to add another.

    Kubiak today:

(on if he will try to add a quarterback to the roster) “Very well could. I think it’s probably important because you never know. You get in a situation where you lose another guy, you better be grooming somebody. We got a big workout today. We got five guys we’re going to work out today. It doesn’t mean we’ll sign one of those guys, but yeah, I think it’s probably important here at some point.”

Never heard of Chase Clement and I wouldn't be comfortable with a guy named TJ Yates.

And we should remember how it was when Rusty started last year against the Texans.

Makes sense to sign a vet though, nothing wrong with it in case Matt sucks or is injured.

TJ Yates is better than Leinart... so I hope whoever they bring in just jumps to becoming a starter.
