Either that or it takes going to England for American acts to be accepted. Americans be like "well, we got Elvis and The Beach Boys; we can slow down now...."

Trying to think of the most legendary all American Rock band. Aerosmith? Tom petty? Pretty short and weak list.

All the "great" English bands were obsessed with American predecessors..
And most of them moved to The US when they could afford it.

Motown begat The Beatles and The Stones and The Who
    American blues begat Led Zeppelin
The Ramones and NY Dolls begat Sex Pistols and The Clash
    and so forth..

I get that. But it's strange how the British bands were the ones who really left a mark. Rock and blues started in the USA, but for some reason the British bands did the Rock and roll thing better.

I guess if not for the Beatles/British invasion, we may have never had the influential British bands in our market.

Crazy to think about all the rock legends from England. Pretty much every major name.
    Sabbath
    Deep purple
    Queen
    Clapton/winwood
    Who
    Zep
    Stones
    Beatles
    Genesis
    Maiden
    Floyd
Even hendrix was a wannabe Brit, and the whole "experience" was British except for him.

I've had to correct my mom on her saying that British people are more talented. Not necessarily true at all.. Just that only their best and brightest make it big, here. But Brits at their peak are by far the best in rock's short history. Can't explain why. Not even a close race.

And for the most part those are all wave bands.. Remove the years 67-73 and it kinda all evens out. Spread out by a few short years in a western pop culture market that is compressed X100 compared to the states. I dunno if you've been to the UK but for the most part all of this stuff happens in an extremely small area around London.
We grew the roots - they grew the vines...

Yeah I've been to the UK but didn't really have the time to take in any music. And I'm sure it has changed a ton since the 70s, too.

I will be voting Zeppelin all the way.

They will be victorious. One of the best bands all time, no doubt.

I've long said that the British take whatever we're doing away from us, fix it and hand it back to us better. The American list IS short and weak.

That song is also the answer to the (ignorant and arrogant) question "why the hell would a bass player need a delay pedal??!...."
