Gloat, this has taken over as the single stupidest post you have ever made on this site.

You know absolutly nothing about MMA, and it shows from your description of MMA.

If you think "FEDOR" a heavyweight, is the elite of elite, well.....just do some research before you type. Please do.....Anderson Silva, George St Pierre. Randy Couture (Even though he lost, he is amazing).

I got an idea though.....just look at how much money UFC made in 2008. Millions of people must like the "humping" as you put it.

You would think I would be used to your post, but you brutally tore into something that I enjoy, with absolutely no knowledge of what you were talking about. If you don't like something, then just say "I dont like it". Dont make up a bunch of horse poo reasons why.

I never took anything away from the skill of boxing. I know it takes a lot of strategy. But I am also smart enough to know the MMA takes tons of strategy to. Sure you got a few fighters who just go out swinging, but they are rarely on the main cards. JUST LIKE BOXING.......

Man, I can't rep you enough for this post.

In Gloat's description of MMA, it's like he thinks you can get in a grapple position and just "boxer" punch your way out of it. I'd like to see that in practice when someone snaps your leg in half.

That's the strategy of MMA, and really hand to hand combat in general. You aren't ever going to straight punch someone in a fight. You are going to attack every limb and look for every advantage.

That's why MMA, and even kickboxing, is much more strategic than straight boxing.

    Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh!

^I didn't say that. I said snow and ice aren't the same thing. You seem to think they are.

And lmao @ someone telling me I know nothing about mma (i wouldn't mind that) because I think Fedor is the elite, but then mentions Randy F'ing Couture??? Seriously???
I hate Fedor, but how many times has he lost? And he's fought the best, not just bums from UFC. Fedor would wipe his arse with Randy Couture.

Georges St. Pierre is my favorite of any of them, but again- he can be beaten by anyone just like the rest of them. The only one dominant in MMA is Fedor. He's the only one that seems unbeatable.

And it's not more strategic. If it were, these guys wouldn't be gassed by round 2. They wouldn't rely on lucky punches 90% of the time, and they'd seem to have some sort of orthodox style- while most don't.

    - You can train a boxer to be an elite in MMA. You can't train an MMA fighter to be an elite boxer. That's all I need to know.
MMA is what amateur boxers that can't make anything of themselves in the pros do.

    gonna jump in here.

MMA does not seem rigged, not saying it ain't but it does not seem to be. Boxing has not been fun to watch since Tyson switched camps. DK ruined the sport. I won't even watch the amatures anymore.

I liked MMA back when the clock started at 0:00 and went up till there was a KO or tapout. That was a sport. Watched one of those Brazilian submission specialists take an absoutle beatdown, but he never gave up the guys arm, after about 10 mins crawling up that arm the dude tapped out, and the Brazilian broke his elbow - totally brutal.

    Gloat,

I apologize if I came off harsh with my post. You are entitled to your opinion, and I respect that.

I enjoy MMA more than boxing. That is mine.

Randy Couture is an amazing fighter. For you to disagree with that, I dont know what to say.

You say that one lucky punch and you win...well doesnt that happen in boxing as well? And look at St Pierre's record. When he did lose, is was not to a lucky punch. So this kinda disproves your theory right? I mean, how can he win so many times and not get hit with the proverbial lucky punch? Same than with Anderson Silva, the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

As for Fedor, I have heard good things about him, just never seen him fight. This sounds silly, but Brock Lesner is a beast and is going to be hard to beat strictly on size alone. He is a world class wrestler already (real wrestling), and as soon as he learns som jujitsu he is going to be nasty.

Fedor is the best professional fighter in the world IMO. If you haven't seen him fight Ammo, do yourself a favor and find some tape of him anywhere you can. I'm sure youtube would oblige. Couture is awesome, but Fedor is a technical marvel.

I was going to argue with Alex, but when he said that MMA is somehow more strategic than boxing, I decided not to even get involved. As someone who trained in Golden Gloves for close to five years, I can tell you there is plenty of preparation involved in boxing. Just like any sport. And I don't know what to tell you about the "clown glove" garbage. It's like saying NFL players aren't as legit because they wear pads and a helmet. The precautions are to protect fighters; this isn't warfare, it's a sport. And you should know better than anyone that while there are some decent punchers in MMA, the sport is truly grounded more in submission and groundwork than striking (at least IMO); the sport doesn't need 12 oz gloves if fighters aren't absorbing a majority of head blows.
