We have a reaches board so let us have a great value board. Who are those players who will be better than their draft status suggests. Particularly those players taken in rds 2-4.

Now i have harped enough about kenny phillips the miami safety. Here are some more players that i consider great value for their teams..

Rd 2 brian brohm QB. Packers..

Rd 3 reggie smith safety ...49ers

Rd 3 TE craig stevens ...Titans

Rd 4 OLB stanford keglar ..Titans

    Rd 4 WR keenan burton....Rams

Note that i do like our hawkins pick but just like burton a little better. still a fine pick though..

Rd. 2 Matt Forte, RB, Bears- No clear #1 RB now, he could get a good start on his career.

Rd. 2 Quentin Groves, DE/OLB, Jags- Great pass-rusher should be an excellent como with Harvey or could be put at OLB.

Rd. 2 Limas Sweed, WR, Pittsburgh- Give Roethlsburger a 1st round talent in Sweed to go along with Mendenhall, Parker, Ward, and Holmes. In a couple years, wow!

Rd. 3 Jamaal Charles, RB, Chiefs- Larry Johnson in my opinion is just about done which should open up time for Charles who could become a very good starter.

Rd. 3 Mario Manningham, WR, Giants- This just gives Eli help at WR.

Rd. 4 Red Bryant, DT, Seahawks- I thought he'd be drafted in the 2nd round. So obviously I think he's good value.

You know i forgot manningham for a while there. On another board i said he was the best WR value so i better stick to my guns and include him.

Forte certainly will get the opportunity to play with the bears. Personally i see some chris brown there a guy who runs kind of upright but has only average size and build. I would be more confident in him if he was 5'11 instead of 6'1 with that 217 lbs. On the positive side his dimensions and 40 time were very similar to adrian peterson. He also can catch the ball.

I hated the nfldraftscountdown write up on him. A FB/RB hybrid? WTF!

Good idea RT. (can't believe I just typed that!!)

Here are my "great value" picks by position:

QB - John David Booty, USC. Drafted by Minnesota in 5th round. Will be starter by the end of this year if Favre doesn't go to the Vikings. Manages a game extremely well and has the confidence not to be rattled by setbacks.

RB - NIL. I think RB as a position was overdrafted early this year. If forced to nominate a RB that will prove to be good value, I'll go with Ray Rice, although mid-late 2nd was probably about the right spot for him.

WR - (a) Devin Thomas, Michigan State. Drafted by the Redskins in the 2nd round and I think he'll be a great pro given time. Don't expect great things overnight however.
    (b) Andre Caldwell, Florida. Drafted by the Bengals at the end of the 3rd round and is my pick to be leading rookie receiver this season.

TE - NIL. If forced to choose, I think Fred Davis will have some good seasons, and I think Tamme is a good fit in Indy, but none of the TEs were uber Value in my view.

OL - Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh. 5th OT chosen and I think he'll be the best of the bunch taken in the 1st round.

DT - No surprises here. Sedrick Ellis, USC. 7th overall pick by New Orleans. Best player in the draft in my view. Also think Lionel Dotson, taken by Miami in the 7th round will be a good player.

DE - I like Groves a lot, but I'll have to go with Jeremy Thompson, Wake Forest. Taken by the Packers in round 4, he'll replace KGB as their pass-rush specialist by the end of the year.

LB - Xavier Adibi, Va Tech. Drafted by the Texans in middle of the 4th, he'll make big plays on ST and as a sub LB on passing downs.

CB - I like a pair of 4th rounders - Jack Williams, Kent (Denver) and Tyvon Branch, Connecticut (Raiders). Both go into places where they won't be asked to start right away, but will be nickel corners by the end of the year and starters next season.

S - Tyrell Johnson, Arkansas State (Minnesota) - 2nd round. Goes into a good situation and is a great coverage guy with good measurables.

    My take on the TEs.

I disagree with carpy i think the TEs represented much better value than many Rbs or Wrs. Davis and bennett where they were taken in rd 2 were great value and so was our pick with stevens though some titan fans can make a case for us taking manningham there.

The issue with tamme being a good fit in indy is interesting because it might be the only place he would fit. Still if he can't block like a legit TE then he is still just a big WR even in that system. You look at the colts with harrison's future uncertain at best and possibly losing clark next year yet they drafted no Wrs or TEs until tamme in rd 4. With the 30th pick the colts had their pick of every single WR or TE in this draft. If you think tamme is a good fit there how about justin keller? Devin thomas was there if they wanted him. even after they traded down to the 49th pick there were still a lot of Wrs and TEs to pick from.

The Colts didn't have a 1st round pick. The Jets took Keller I believe with the 30th pick. We should keep in mind that the 1st WR taken in the entire draft was Donnie Avery.

Also, Dustin Keller isn't really much different than Tamme. He is only a few pounds heavier (242 to 236) and although his 40 is slightly faster (4.53 to 4.58) Tamme had faster 10 yd and 20yd times. Keller does have a superior vertical but Tamme is a similar player and Keller isn't exactly going to be used as a power blocker.

I always thought Fred Davis was better than Keller.

Keller was without question the best athlete at the combine at that position. Best 40 time, best vertical, 2nd best 225 reps. He had the best cone time among the top prospects. He is a stronger guy than tamme and was a better blocker in college.

Davis seemed like a sure fire 1st rd pick but he didn't run at the combine and hid 4.68 time on pro day was weak. In fact he did nothing on pro day that helped him. Still a fine prospect with a strong build and big production at SC.

How about kellen davis one of the biggest TEs at 6'7 262 he had the 4th best 40 time 4.60. Davis was a late 5th rd pick.

Maybe Kellen Davis doesn't have enough talent to be a starting TE.

I watched him in depth at the Senior Bowl and he doesn't look like a footballer. He was splitting time between DE and TE and seemed a step behind the play at least. Ben Troupe Part Deux maybe.
