I've never thought any of the Star Wars were good. Never understood the hype other than they were groundbreaking for their time period.

I imagine the Darth Vader revelation would have helped back then, but Star Wars is more a geeks fantasy than anything 'great'.

    That would explain the hype.

Except kids and people my age (early-mid twenties) like Star Wars. My generation wasn't born when the original three were released, and only got to see the abomination prequels.

I'm 23 in case you thought I was some old man lol. But yeah, I loved the hell out of the original Star Wars when I was a kid. If you're 25 and watch Star Wars for the first time, it's not going to be the same lol.

The people your age that you're referring to are most likely the geeks who can't let go of anything from their childhood.

Saw the original 3 when they came out and loved them all. I was 7 when the first was released, 10 when Empire came out and 13 for Return of the Jedi, so I am the target demographic. I saw the first of the "prequel" trilogy and stopped there. Never saw the final two.

Star Wars is amazing. It doesn't matter when, where or how you see it...the holy trilogy are still masterpieces (with the exception of Jedi, which, wasn't that great).

The worst thing about the SW franchise is that it was successful and it's megalomaniacal creator doesn't know when to quit milking it. coming soon: the entire series in 3-D.

I hate that it gets classified as science fiction - what with wizard senators and paranormal jedi force - arrrugh!

its FANTASY, nothing wrong with that but its still not science fiction.

I'm on the same boat as most, first 3 were great, last 3 were not. How does Leia faintly remember her mother when she died right after giving birth? (in the new movies)

They are a sham. And then they go through and rape the originals by, among other things, placing the new Anakin in place of the original actor in ROTJ, And they insert these 1990s CG animations where they clearly don't mesh with the very 70s-ish effects they have. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
