Does anyone play for the love of the game anymore or just a contract? Maybe I'm old fashioned but NFL was better when players were tougher and didn't make a lot of money but just played for the love of the game. Mud games played through broken bones. Now they sprain a pinky and out for a week and want millions. Bunch of Diva's.

Players always played for the most money they could get. The romantic idea that the game was somehow different in the past is false. Unless you're willing to reject the entire free market ideology, you can't really complain about what players are doing.

Do you do your job for the love of it? If so, feel free to donate your entire salary to a charity.

If you go back to the 50's they could not support themselves playing in the NFL and had two jobs. I have some old NFL films VHS and not sure they are on DVD but these guys said how they played for the love of the game and dislike the NFL today as it's to much a business. NFL wasn't a job. Job is something you hate unless it pays well. Career is something you love even if it's pays poorly.

You have some extremely narrow definitions of jobs and careers.

The days of the Dick Butkus, Howie Long, L.C. Greenwood and Ted Hendricks. When they would have punched out an assistant coach who tried to keep them off the field because of a sprained ankle or broken finger.

Now guys who are busts make more money guaranteed than these guys made combined in their collective careers...

Munchak said today that CJ needs to be in camp now to be able to start the season. Sounds like he is slowly letting the fans know cj might not play in sept.

No they don't. You are indeed old fashioned, and yes it was better then.

Trust me, if CJ is signed before the season opener, he will start.
