Yeah, but we had poor evaluators then and JR is known for that as a strength. No way to project past personnel decisions onto to this guy's desk.

 

I thought Robinson was pretty funny too. Loved his comments about building his board off the various mock drafts - "that's the best way to do it." Too bad many sports reporters actually believe that.

 

So far so good for JR - the Ram rape is precious stuff. The next step is how we are going to go forward at the draft and whether we use the picks to possibly trade back in to hit selected targets or we just go gung-ho and take the best option on need at those points. Personally I think we'll adopt the first of those two ideas.

We won't really know just how good this is all going to pan out for at least two even three years when we should know whether what we took the plunge on has been worth the call.

The list of dross above in this thread is bad enough to highlight the pitfalls let alone adding our dear departed friend Chris Henry to those fallen.

But , 24 hours in , it still all feels kind of chipper.

• Rd. 1, Pk. 15 Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
  So, what are the Titans planning on doing at No. 15? Charlie Campbell has reported in the NFL Draft Rumor Mill that Tennessee is planning on taking a right tackle. Jack Conklin is expected to be the target, but Ronnie Stanley could be available. Many expect Stanley to go higher, but teams are concerned about his passion for football as well as his toughness. However, he might be too talented to pass up at this spot.

• Rd. 2, Pk. 2 Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
  I actually thought about slotting Mackensie Alexander at No. 15 prior to Charlie Campbell's report that Tennessee would be considering a tackle at that spot. Alexander makes sense here as well, given that the Titans have to find multiple upgrades for their poor secondary.

  This may seem odd, given that the Titans spent the 15th-overall choice in this mock on Ronnie Stanley, but they like Taylor Decker enough to draft him at the No. 15 spot, so I think they'd see too much value in him here to pass him up. Besides, Decker could play guard, which is a position that should be addressed.

• Rd. 2, Pk. 14 Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma
  The Titans need help at receiver to go along with Dorial Green-Beckham, as Kendall Wright has proven to be a disappointment.

• Rd. 3, Pk. 1 Alex McCalister, DE, Florida
  Teams are always looking for solid pass-rushing depth, and the Titans have none behind Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan.

• Rd. 3, Pk. 13 Jalen Mills, S, LSU
  The Titans added a cornerback a round earlier, but they still have to find another defensive back. Safety is a big need as well.

• Rd. 5, Pk. 1 Kentrell Brothers, ILB/OLB, Missouri
  The Titans have a couple of impending free agents at inside linebacker, so depth will be needed behind the two starters.
