The World Cup is coming to Nashville!

WC 2018 will probably be in Europe. 2022 is most likely in Asia (China?), 2026 in Europe, and finally 2030 in (North/South)America

Not saying that's how it's gonna be, but it has been Europe - Non-Europe-Europe-Non-Europe etc. for decades.

Could the rugby union/league stadiums be used in some capacity? I must admit my knowledge of Australian sports venues is lacking so I am not sure what the shortfall would be.

There certainly has been a biased towards Europe in the past but I get the impression FIFA are trying to move away from this. I agree with you that China is a strong possibility, Russia too.

 

Well, Europe has had the infrastructure for years and is the strongest region in soccer.

But as you point out, the rest of the world i catching up, so I would not be surprise if 2018 went to Asia and first in 2022 in Europe. - Anyway, IMO there's still a few WCs before it's (North/South) Americas time again.

Possibly, but I think FIFA has a minimum seating capacity which would count out all stadiums minus MCG, Etihad Stadium, Homebush, the New Rectangular Stadium and some others I think.

 

Is that the name of the stadium? "New Rectangular Stadium", or is that what you know it as?

 

It hasn't finished yet (will be ready around mid-year) so I don;t think they have a name for it yet.
