Old PS3 is basically dead; GPU boards are probably fried. I want another Sony product, and I'm thinking about the Slim. Anyone have any experience with it?

My brother has the slim...no problems are all....It wasn't even affected by the Leap Year bug.

    I've got the Slim.

Just the same as the other, I suppose. Looks a little better- but I don't like the no-gloss. Then again, it's better about no finger prints.

It's really not much smaller, just not as tall. I think it's actually wider (front to back) than the original.

I have both, never had a problem with my Slim. The slim is pretty much the same with less USB ports and no backwards compatibility and a little smaller.

None of those issues bother me. I've heard of energy savings from the Slim, any notice of such?

Massive energy saver. There is rumour they are releasing a lighter slim but I doubt it makes a difference (it's like .2 of a kg lighter)

Alright, I'm sold. Now to find one, as they're near impossible to find for 299.99.

Sony have massive production issues at the moment. Have since XMAS.

Found one this afternoon, there was literally one in the backroom of a Target. I searched within 20 miles of Richmond, VA, and it was the only location that had one (out of Target, Gamestop, Bestbuy, and Sears). Crazy stuff.
