The Titans have added a pair of veteran free agents to the roster, one of which has starting experience as a middle linebacker.

In addition, the team waived undrafted free-agent running back Stefphon Jefferson.

Tennessee added 6-0, 242-pound linebacker Greg Jones, who was a sixth-round pick of the New York Giants in 2011. Jones played in all 16 games in 2011 for the Giants, starting five, and posted 25 tackles. He played in five games for Jacksonville last year and saw action mostly on special teams.

Jones is the second free-agent signee who has experience playing middle linebacker. The top middle linebacker on the Titans’ roster, Colin McCarthy, was limited to seven games because of an ankle injury and concussion.

The 5-10, 206-pound Alexander was signed to the Titans practice squad for the final week of the 2012 season after spending the majority of the year on the Indianapolis practice squad. He was originally signed by Chicago as a rookie free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft but was released by the Bears prior to training camp.

In three seasons at the University of Wyoming, Alexander rushed for 2,127 yards and 27 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he set the school’s single-season record with 14 rushing touchdowns.

I doubt either will make the team. Jones could maybe as a special teams player if he beats out Shaw or Bailey, but I don't see that happening.

So much for Stephon Jefferson's potential as the #3 guy. Must be something more as to the reason why he got released so soon.

I bet Jones makes the team. He's better than Bailey, a special teams ace. Still young and was solid coming out of Michigan St.

Can't be any worse than Shaw at MLB ... I remember last year (can't remember which game) when shaw was put in at MLB and they threw a TD pass to his guy. He would've been in perfect position to pick it off if he wasn't facing the wrong direction haha. Ball whizzed right by him.

Shaw is an ok LB, he's not a starter obviously, so anytime he's in you gotta feel worried, unless its a kickoff.

Greg Jones was a 2 time all American in college and led the nation in tackles his senior year. Giants had to many LB's. This guy makes the team and may start when McCarthey gets hurt. I am actually very happy we signed this guy he can play and is an upgrade over shaw and bailey and much cheaper!
