Wait... That happened???
Still scratching my head at the Mariani move.. if he won the return battle but is injured, why not put him on PUP or IR Recall? He won't count as one of the 53, and we can cut someone when he comes back healthy.
If he's healthy enough to play this year, he needs to play. If we don't want to play him, let him go through waivers and return for someone else. This seems like a dick move by the FO.
Exactly why not just put him on the PUP and then we have him for week 7.
Cuz we were gonna cut him
Why put him on pup and cut him in 6 weeks. He was getting cut people.
Putting him on IR basically pays him for the year. He might not have caught on somewhere. Risky with injury. This guarantees he gets some parting $$$
Now that he's on IR he can't be cut. We can't negotiate an injury settlement unless we waive/injure him. He's out for the year but remains a Titan
Well that's what i mean. He won't see the roster next season. He's basically cut IMO.
Yes but he still gets his 630k salary for the season and gets to rehab with the team for the year. If he can get his shoulder healed (which he should) he still has a chance to stick with a team next year as a KO/PR guy.
The Titans did Mariani a solid here and I'm glad because he seems like a nice guy and a hard worker.
The only reason I could think the titans put him on IR would be because they want to keep him for next year. He could still play this year if he was released. It may have been determined though that he wouldn't be ready as soon as everyone thought.
