Yes there will be DE's that play the run better than LaBoy/Odom/Connover.

And I'd say DE is at least just as big a need as WR and CB. If Anderson or Carriker are there at 19, I'd take them over any WR or CB. But that's probably not going to happen.

If we end up getting 2 DE's, a bigger stuffer, and a smaller rusher, maybe we don't pick DE very early.

Right now its tough to make an arguement for any position as to what we need the most out of WR, DE, or CB, theyre all really needed spaces to be filled

If we can address them within the first few rounds id be pleased

Sucks when you're being dismissed on your team's own website.

Defense is obviously our place of need, but we need someone out there to help Vince. If he's got nobody to look for, our O will suddenly be as bad as our D. I reckon we go WR, DE, CB in that order. Mostly 'cause I reckon the leftover DE talent will be better than the leftover WRs would.

In todays game, it's more the job of DT's and LBs to stop the run.

if you play for the colts. once the colts' DEs stopped blindly flying up the field, they became halfway decent against the run.

look at the guys who lead the league in sacks in 2006, most of them had at least 50 tackles.

A lot of people don't understand that by drafting a good DE (or DT, aka Okoye [-: ) will improve the play of the entire defense. DE will help stop the run, which helps our LBs, and that then helps the DBs play. Our DBs play will also be helped by the pressure our DE will provide on opposing QBs.

Our entire D-line would play better with the help of another DE, or Okoye :)

this brings up the age old quest for balance

you can break 'em all down and theirs gripes for all
    like:
the defense seems subpar because they're subjected to more plays,
because the offense is not sustaining drives,
and the answer to that is better play from the wideout position

the secondary isues are due to lack of pressure from the ends
the ends are doing their job, but the secondary is allowing quickies
the ends are not collapsing the pocket and getting off their blocks
but they could if the coverage was holding up

    balance ..... must ... find .... balance

---"Reinfeldt can help the Titans most by addressing the offense first.

Tennessee held the ball only 27 minutes, 17 seconds per game in 2006, which strained the defense far too often.." ------

YES - time of possession and drive conversion are CRITICAL
but that doesn't mean you HAVE to have a 1st Round WR

"The Run" was not dependent on a Top WR
our leading reciver was Frank Wycheck with 69 receptions
and the next 2 were Dyson (54) and Thigpen (38)
    ALL 3 COMBINED tallied only 10 TD's

What we need from the receiving corps is simply good solid , chain moving catches; guys that can play the short-intermediate game well.
A high-end (high priced) WR would be underutilized in this offense
