Titans Feel Crumpler Key to Red Zone TD Improvement

Slamma makes a good point because in the red zone the most important thing is to run block and power it in and the TE is just one of several guys who might get the score.

Still crumpler could get us 2 TDs that in the past would have been FG attempts and that is a help..

 

We could have done nothing and our red zone defense would improve this year. Simply by chance. We were not last in red zone ofense the previous 2 seasons. We were 23rd in 06 and 17th in 05 and since 05 was the only year chow was here when he had a vet QB to work with i would guess that all improves with VY's improvement.

2005....17th....pts 78%...TD..48%

2006.....23rd....pts 87%...TD..45%

2007.....32nd....pts 80%...TD..37%

 

What about just getting to the red zone? There were teams with less than 40 trips to the red zone last year. 2 of them were among the best in the red zone. The 49ers were 16th in red zone stats last year impressed? They only made it there 29 times!

Isn't getting there a major goal?

 

Of course having a TE like Crumpler will help. Anytime you can add a weapon like Crumpler it will help your red zone. You run 2 TE sets with Crumpler and Scaife...both can block and catch. Then have Lendale, who like him or not, does a great job on the goal line, you're going to get some favorable matchups.
