true, but they say it because thats they way they have heard others say it, and at somepoint someone knew what they were doing.

Thats the way a lot of phrases work though ... people say a phrase and they know what it means in context, but not necessarily the origin of the phrase.

Who's to say that he didn't do it the year we had the best def(only allowing 191 points) and went to the Superbowl? Either way as long as the D becomes a menacing, 3 and out machine, I am happy to have him back. I was never a fan of Jim "base 4-3" Schultz, I hated Cecil, and Jerry "looks like Ray Rhodes, coaches like Dusty Rhodes" Gray is the worst DC in the league. We have not had a good DC since he left.

I sure wish we would get to a more aggressive philosophy on the corners, but I fear we lost our only physical corner in Finny. I just go nuts watching out guys sit 5-6 yds off receivers on third and 3. I have said it way too many times on here, but I just don't know how they can watch film and not find htat an issue.

GW will bring some intensity, but I wonder how much he will be allowed to change or adjust Gray's scheme? Will he be able to make modifications or what? Not sure what his actual powe will be.

Williams and Gray claim theyre both calling plays. Gray will get the credit but he says he'll look at Williams for input on a lot of stuff. Williams said when he was a DC hed constantly seek Grays opinion when he was only a position coach.
