Ok, that had me worried that he had actually signed there, but it doesn't look like there's any real news other than that his 'travel problems' probably were actually real (take that conspiracy theorists) and that Buffalo is definately still in the running (no pun intended) for his services

"There has been speculation that Smith will come off his trade demand of first-and third-round draft choices for Turner, for fear of losing Turner next offseason as an unrestricted free agent and getting only a low compensatory draft choice in exchange. Better to get something now than nothing later, the argument goes.

The only problem is that Smith doesn't think that way. He values playmakers and knows Turner can help the Chargers make a Super Bowl run as a backup and a kick returner. He's not going to give him away, particularly when he knows what cards the other teams are holding."

FORGET Turner! Give lendale a chance, thats why we drafted him so high. I WANT ASANTE SAMUEL!

  4. It's all really a question of how much Smith wants him as a backup RB in 2007 and then lose him with no compensation in 2008 versus getting a 2nd round draft pick (or better) in 2007, which would bring another fairly cheap player for 4 or 5 years.

Even if Samuel costs $3-4M/year more than Turner?

If he knows what we're holding then he knows we've got Corey Dillon visiting and we'd be alright with him and LenDale

We're not going to get him. Our new GM is a cheapskate and we'll be lucky to ever get someone good through FA again. He just blows smoke constantly with no intentions of making any moves. Unless it's some crap player nobody has heard of.

what are you basing this on??? hes definatly not a cheapskape the money he gave Shaun Alexander in Seattle, and he will make big moves, the trade for Deion Branch was pretty big. just cuz he hasnt done much THIS offseason doesnt mean he is trying to reck the titans and save money at the same time.
